United We Stand

In Los Angeles, James Lipetzky directed a piece for United Way of Orange County. Shot over five days on location in Orange County,  Foundation’s Evan Cohen pulled double duty on this shoot as both Line Producer and AD.

The shoot culminated with 50 people on the beach in Newport Beach.  James Lipetzky commented; “I was deeply moved by some of the stories I encountered while on this shoot, of those helped by United Way. The work they do to help those in need really is exceptional.” Stay tuned for more on this piece in the future!

Patel’s Got Game

Foundation’s Anna Patel directed and edited a series of web docs to support the launch of Current TV’s 4TH AND FOREVER which premieres Thursday, May 26th at 9/8c.

The series follows the storied Long Beach Polytechnic High School football team as they tackle the 2010 season.  Poly has graduated more NFL players than any other high school in America.  We sat down with a few alumni to learn what makes this such a successful football program.  The first clip features Marcedes Lewis (Poly ’02) of the Jacksonville Jaguars and premiered on ESPN.com.

Blissful Buzz

Foundation Audio Engineer, Ryan Pribyl recently collaborated with composers Elliot Hunt and Daniel Alcheh, of Alcheh & Hunt,  on the score for indie film East Fifth Bliss, starring Dexter’s Michael C. Hall, Lucy Liu, Peter Fonda and Brie Larson.

The music was recorded at multiple studios in both Chicago and LA and mixed in 5.1 surround by Ryan and Eliot at our Chicago office’s audio suite.

The film premiered just last month at the Newport Beach Film Festival and was chosen to headline the festival out of 450 participating films from all over the world.

We were thrilled to be a part of this film and hope you will take a minute to check out the movie site, which features some of the music.

The Taos of Del Gatto

Los Angeles based director and photographer Ron Hamad’s film “The Wait” is a finalist in the Taos Film Festival. Editor, Jonathan Del Gatto executed the edit on this film, and we are very proud to be a part of the excitement.

If you haven’t seen it already, it can be viewed here.   “The Wait” is arrestingly beautiful and really showcases Hamad’s cinematic talents.   Jonathan’s edit  perfectly enhances the footage and helps tell the story.

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue…

… and people everywhere today are either puking up 3 year old chalky hearts that Hallmark passes off as candy or their making others puke with their “cute coupledom”.

Well, whichever side of the Valentine’s Day fence you happen to fall on, Focus Creeps have a project coming up that you’re sure to find… sweeeeeeet!

Dream Trinity… it’s a film which follows San Francisco band Girls, Smith Westerns and Magic Kids on a cross country tour and it is sure to be the ultimate rock and roll romance film of 2011!

This film will be hitting the festival scene soon, so keep an eye out and enjoy this tasty, low calorie, non puke inducing treat and don’t forget to share it with someone you love!

Happy Valentine’s Day, from all of us at Foundation!

Hammering Out Great Work

Foundation clients A&I  (Angela + Ithyle) presented a short film last night in Los Angeles at the Hammer Museum during their popular Flux event.  Also screening was the premiere of LOVED BY WATER, a poignant  short film by Vince Haycock who is a friend of the Foundation family.

Foundation owner James Lipetzky with Focus Creep director Aaron Brown in front of the Billy Wilder Theatre.

In addition to special guests  Angela + Ithyle and Vincent Haycock were Sophie Gateau (below is Foundation owner, Samantha Hart holding one of her creations) and Neistat Brothers, of the eponymous HBO series. The program also included new work from Spike Jonze, Aardman Animation, Kutiman and David Altobelli.

It was a very creative night and nice to see so many innovative and talented people sharing their work in such an awesome forum!
