Foundation Editor Suzie Moore and Sr. Assistant Editor B Stover recently entered a Make an Ad contest for Sally Hansen… and WON a top spot among the finalists! The brand purchased their spot, along with 5 others, for use in an upcoming campaign. Brittany “B” says, “We entered the contest because we wanted to make beauty products appealing in a new and different way.” Click the pic to view the spot!
B and Suzie co-directed “Salon Effects Fashion Show” and shot it on the stage at Foundation Content. “Being a part of the directing process was so satisfying because it allowed me to see the whole idea come to life!”, says B. “I wasn’t even sure if we were going to go through with shooting the idea at first, but when I saw the script that B wrote, there was no choice but to film it!”, Suzie continues.

Evan Cohen is the most recent addition to our Los Angeles branch, migrating from Director of Strategic Marketing and Creative for Cornerstone Promotion and head of video production for Cornerstone’s in-house music and culture property FADER Media. Cohen will serve in the capacity of VP Brand Strategy & Production.
As Director, Strategic Marketing & Creative at Cornerstone, Cohen was instrumental in building the West Coast office of the NY-based brand strategy agency. His strong production background contributed to the growth of Cornerstone’s branded content creation and entertainment businesses. During his tenure, Evan created and executed integrated campaigns for A-list brands such as Levi’s, Kia, HBO, Microsoft, Diageo, Pepsi and Columbia Pictures. He also served as Multimedia Director for FADER Media and headed up the video production for the FADER Label.
While at Cornerstone, Evan worked closely on a video for artists Matt & Kim alongside Foundation’s producer Stacy Paris and director Jonathan Del Gatto and recently hired Foundation directing duo Focus Creeps to shoot a project for vitaminwater. His joining Foundation comes out of a natural desire to get more involved with content production and the expansion of our business model into new and inspired areas.
Previous to Cornerstone, Cohen was a film industry professional where he produced independent films and served in various production and development capacities for Scott Rudin Productions, Tribeca Productions and Brillstein Grey Entertainment. As an independent filmmaker he produced “Series 7″ which premiered at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival and was distributed by USA Films, and “Bittersweet Place” the award-winning Tribeca Film Festival entry.

This past December, James Lipetzky Directed a spot for Draft FCB for Hampton Hotels. The piece was shot on our stage and featured a rather unique public figure… Joseph Odhiambo. Joe holds the world record for dribbling basketballs.
Tom Pastorelle, who is no stranger to the Hampton brand, edited this spot and the graphics featured the handiwork of Jason Voke and Curt Cooper. “It was a fun shoot” says James, “Joe was high energy and that pumped up every one on the crew – and I think that energy is evident in the final piece”
The spot is a lot of fun and yes… no special effects here… Joe, like Hampton, is the real deal.

Our L.A. team has been working on a project with Dentsu for the Bandai toy company. Bandai has two new toys coming out, that we are creating promotional sizzle pieces for.
Jonathan DelGatto’s edit bay was transformed into a green screen studio for the shoot! We’ll be posting the pieces when they are done… and though i cannot say too much more about the toys themselves… I will say that I totally want one!

From Romanian director Alex Rotaru, comes the delightful story of an amateur piano contest for people over the age of 30 hosted by the Van Cliburn Foundation. “They Came to Play” took home awards for Best Documentary from both the Bucharest and the SENE film festivals and has been met with rave reviews!
We were fortunate enough to produce and edit the trailer for this film, design the collateral materials and build the website.

Well, now you can! This Friday, Dec. 4th it will be screened at the Gene Siskel Film Center until Dec. 10th! This weekend there will be a special performance by Janet Underhill, Chicago amateur pianist and participant in the Cliburn Competition, and a Q & A with Director Alex Rotaru!

Could they be considered the soundtrack of today’s generation?
The band Girls, who we’ve done a few music videos for now, are popping up all over the music scene lately and are being featured on Urban Outfitter’s main website! Their new track “Lust for Life” can be seen on this month’s AV Club page or below!
The video was shot and directed by Aaron Brown and Ben Chappell and really captures what’s at the heart of today’s youth in San Fransisco, which has always been a town to provide an excellent backdrop for political as well as artistic movements.
