United We Stand

In Los Angeles, James Lipetzky directed a piece for United Way of Orange County. Shot over five days on location in Orange County,  Foundation’s Evan Cohen pulled double duty on this shoot as both Line Producer and AD.

The shoot culminated with 50 people on the beach in Newport Beach.  James Lipetzky commented; “I was deeply moved by some of the stories I encountered while on this shoot, of those helped by United Way. The work they do to help those in need really is exceptional.” Stay tuned for more on this piece in the future!

Patel’s Got Game

Foundation’s Anna Patel directed and edited a series of web docs to support the launch of Current TV’s 4TH AND FOREVER which premieres Thursday, May 26th at 9/8c.

The series follows the storied Long Beach Polytechnic High School football team as they tackle the 2010 season.  Poly has graduated more NFL players than any other high school in America.  We sat down with a few alumni to learn what makes this such a successful football program.  The first clip features Marcedes Lewis (Poly ’02) of the Jacksonville Jaguars and premiered on ESPN.com.

The Worldwide Del Webb

Jonathan Del Gatto is currently in Arizona, directing some spots for Del Webb with BDM agency producer Jack Steinman.

JDG will be at Edgewater in Elgin, IL and Carolina Lakes in South Carolina next week.

Focus Creeps Create Creepy Teaser Trailer

For those of you who recall frightening tales of Bat Boy and other mutants and alien spaceships screaming out for attention from grocery check out stations, you are in luck!  The Weekly World News who published the now defunct magazine – is back -under the leadership of CEO, Neil McGinness, who just published a new book entitled “Going Mutant.

This week, Foundation CEO, Samantha Hart, was in the Big Apple and attended a book signing party for “Going Mutant” in the East Village.  What’s the connection? McGinniss is a fan of Foundation’s Focus Creeps and enlisted the boys to produce an appropriately “creep-ie” teaser trailer to promote the brand.

The Creeps, Matt Egan and Jordan Grant traveled to Wisconsin, to a spooky nook called the Cave of the Mounds to shoot the Bat Boy in all his battiness.  And who is behind that scary mask?  I’ll never tell but from the look of the trailer which debuts tomorrow, it could be the real deal!!

Here are some snaps from the party in NYC.

Pictured on the left, Weekly World News CEO Neil McGinniss posing with the Bat Boy Bobble-head.

Behind the Scenes with AGGA B

This is a behind the scenes look at Foundation’s Matt Egan in action. Matt has shot several projects for fashion designer AGGA B recently and the footage from this particular shoot was for her Summer 2010 Collection. Click the picture below to view the footage.

Matt says of the experience, “Working with Agga or high end fashion in general is always an exciting and creative opportunity.  Fashion pieces always call for dynamic, progressive concepts, with pristine captivating imagery. The editing and sound all have to be flawless and dovetail with the concept to complete that compelling feel . The final piece must project a hypnotic energy,  a world that every viewer wants to dive into and make it their own. “

What I love about this footage is the sophisticated glamour of it. The colors are great and having seen Matt in action, I can honestly say that he is the king of versatility. He can shoot everything from gritty rodeo shows to sequin encrusted models! And what a team we have! It’s easy to forget sometimes when we see these people every day, on every shoot- it’s easy to overlook just how awesomely talented each one of them is!  Good work, team!

“Burning Ice” Ignites and Inspires

Anna Patel recently edited a trailer for new eco-revolutionary film “Burning Ice“, which documents 40 musicians, writers and artists as they embark on a 9 day journey off the coast of Greenland with the artist -led climate change project, Cape Farewell.

The film was directed by legendary director Peter Gilbert. If the end music track on this trailer sounds familiar, it’s because it’s an acoustic rendering of KT Tunstall’s new hit which dropped yesterday, “Uummannaq Song“.

The trailer is absolutely visually stunning and features music by the artists involved directly with the film. It is not to be missed if you are an eco-adventurer, nature lover or simply a concerned citizen of the world that wants it to be around long after you’re gone. Well done, Anna!

Bat Boy Sighted!

You may recall the freaky nineties sensation “Bat Boy”… who spawned numerous parodies, an indie graphic novel and even a Broadway musical!

Well, the Focus Creeps are now capitalizing on the very same bald little icon. The boys will be doing a shoot in a cave in Iowa about the “mythical” Weekly World News character.

And who will be playing Bat Boy? Why… none other than our own line producer, Jordan Grant!

Stay tuned for details!!

Farm Livin’ Is The Life For Me!

James Lipetzky recently took a crew down to Southern Illinois for a shoot with the folks from Rhea & Kaiser for FS. This is our second collaboration with FS; you may recall our first shoot, where we documented three different Midwest farms.

Well, this year we were hosted by farmers Stan Kelsey and his son, Willis. The shoot was a great experience for all despite the 90+ degree summer heat.   James says he certainly knows a lot more about soybeans than he did last week.

I don’t know… I think James might have enjoyed this last shoot a little too much… do I see Foundation Farms in our future?!
