Shoup-Shoop-A-Doop

Foundation’s Associate Creative Director, Kyle Shoup visited the L.A. office recently, from Chicago. Shoup, Producer, Evan Cohen, and Owner, Samantha Hart went to MOCA to attend Aaron Roses’ lecture about his curating Art in the Streets, an exhibit of street art which included works by our artist in residence, Nick Egan.

A great time was enjoyed by all and we strongly encourage anyone in the L.A. area to check out the exhibit for themselves. http://www.moca.org/

Nailed It!

Foundation Editor Suzie Moore and Sr. Assistant Editor B Stover recently entered a Make an Ad contest for Sally Hansen… and WON a top spot among the finalists!  The brand purchased their spot, along with 5 others, for use in an upcoming campaign. Brittany “B” says, “We entered the contest because we wanted to make beauty products appealing in a new and different way.” Click the pic to view the spot!

B and Suzie co-directed “Salon Effects Fashion Show” and shot it on the stage at Foundation Content. “Being a part of the directing process was so satisfying because it allowed me to see the whole idea come to life!”, says B. “I wasn’t even sure if we were going to go through with shooting the idea at first, but when I saw the script that B wrote, there was no choice but to film it!”, Suzie continues.

B and Suzie collaborated on the editorial and graphics for the spot – Check it out here!

Aaron Brown WOWs L.A.

Check out WOW Magazine‘s spread on Aaron Brown in their Summer 2011 issue.  Copies of the issue are available online.

The 12 page article features Aaron’s photography and thoughts on the artistic and cultural underbelly of Los Angeles.  “A lot of all kinds of weird, scary, hysterical things happen in LA at every instant,” Aaron says in the interview, “As a result there’s all kinds of different work happening.”

It’s an interesting article, well worth the read, and Aaron’s photographs look great. Definitely “wow” provoking!

A Night with Inner-City Filmmakers

Foundation L.A. recently hosted a roundtable discussion for an audience of students and alumni from Inner-City Filmmakers, a nonprofit dedicated to training and employing disenfranchised high school grads.  The panel – including DPs, editors, directors, Poolhouse producers, and our own James Lipetzky – covered everything from story development to hands-on practicalities of production.

It was a wonderful evening, everyone stayed late to share advice for the kids’ future collaboration with Nylon Studios, Kodak Film, and EKA Reps on the upcoming  Pocket Fest film festival.

Special thanks to all the fantastic panelists who made the night possible: Jessica Cooper Carlson, Mary Ellen Duggan, Will Hartman, Barry Norwood, Robert Parker, Lyra Rider, Vicki Mayer, and James Lipetzky.

United We Stand

In Los Angeles, James Lipetzky directed a piece for United Way of Orange County. Shot over five days on location in Orange County,  Foundation’s Evan Cohen pulled double duty on this shoot as both Line Producer and AD.

The shoot culminated with 50 people on the beach in Newport Beach.  James Lipetzky commented; “I was deeply moved by some of the stories I encountered while on this shoot, of those helped by United Way. The work they do to help those in need really is exceptional.” Stay tuned for more on this piece in the future!

Take One Pill And Call Us in the Morning

This series of videos for vitaminwater was shot by Focus Creeps while on their 14 city tour; in which they shot 3-artists in each city. A lot of hands touched this project as there were a multitude of videos to get through and edit.

Ben Poster edited this Pill documentary, which is the one that Fader launched with. Check out Ben’s edit below and catch the series of vids at Fader.
