Nailed It!

Foundation Editor Suzie Moore and Sr. Assistant Editor B Stover recently entered a Make an Ad contest for Sally Hansen… and WON a top spot among the finalists!  The brand purchased their spot, along with 5 others, for use in an upcoming campaign. Brittany “B” says, “We entered the contest because we wanted to make beauty products appealing in a new and different way.” Click the pic to view the spot!

B and Suzie co-directed “Salon Effects Fashion Show” and shot it on the stage at Foundation Content. “Being a part of the directing process was so satisfying because it allowed me to see the whole idea come to life!”, says B. “I wasn’t even sure if we were going to go through with shooting the idea at first, but when I saw the script that B wrote, there was no choice but to film it!”, Suzie continues.

B and Suzie collaborated on the editorial and graphics for the spot – Check it out here!

Farm Livin’ Is The Life For Me!

James Lipetzky recently took a crew down to Southern Illinois for a shoot with the folks from Rhea & Kaiser for FS. This is our second collaboration with FS; you may recall our first shoot, where we documented three different Midwest farms.

Well, this year we were hosted by farmers Stan Kelsey and his son, Willis. The shoot was a great experience for all despite the 90+ degree summer heat.   James says he certainly knows a lot more about soybeans than he did last week.

I don’t know… I think James might have enjoyed this last shoot a little too much… do I see Foundation Farms in our future?!

Foundation L.A. EXPANDS!!

As most of you know, we opened an L.A. office last year in Santa Monica. Well, we officially signed the lease for our brand new space just this week!!

Our new address?

3583 HAYDEN AVE on the Hayden Tract in Culver City!

Just over 6,000 square feet, the space will have a 30ft x 30ft shooting stage as well as editorial bays and production areas including a mezzanine floor.

In true California style, the space makes use of three garage door roll-ups that spill out onto the expansive patio adorned by an architectural cactus garden suspended above.

Our L.A. studio currently houses award winning editor Jonathan Del Gatto, partner/co-founder James Lipetzky and up and comer Anna Patel.  In addition, music video lensers Focus Creeps, will also be on the roster in Los Angeles.  Stacy Paris produces.

While Foundation’s Los Angeles office is currently housed in Santa Monica digs, the new space should be ready by early December.

Weekend Warriors!

Chiat Day was in town last weekend to work on their show, for their client Gatorade and enlisted our crew to help out with some of the run and gun nature of the shoot.

Foundation director Anna Patel, who flew in from our L.A. office,  definitely threw down for the project as evidenced from the snap above,  captured by Foundation’s Gladys Bernadac, who was also on set.

San Diego-a-go-go!

James Lipetzky just finished shooting a piece with the folks from DraftFCB for Stelara. Chicago producer Carrie Lewis was on board for this San Diego shoot and had simply wonderful things to say about our L.A. crew. Greetings from sunny San Diego!!

As a side note, Morgan Spurlock was staying at the same hotel and on the last night of shooting, Carrie passed him in the hallway!

The Focus Creeps are in L.A. this week shooting a new music video for Ferraby Lionheart. The song is called “Harry and Bess” and is a love song based on Harry Houdini and his wife Bess. The album is set to release August 3rd.

Actor Rainn Wilson, who is an old friend of Ferraby Lionheart, agreed to appear in the video.

The boys are having a blast along with L.A. producer Stacy Paris. Anna Patel will be editing.

Del Gatto Soars for United!

Foundation director, Jonathan Del Gatto, was in Chicago this week for a shoot for United Airlines along with his LA producer Stacy Paris.  Clients from Barrie D’Rozario Murphy flew in from Minneapolis to oversee the production while editing was being handled simultaneously down the hall with James Lipetzky.  Team work!!

Check out some stills from the shoot below!!

Scotch it to Me!

We recently hosted a 3D seminar with the folks from Quantel.

There was a demonstration along with a Q&A every two hours starting at around 10 am. The real party however, kicked off later that afternoon when we opened up a Scotch bar on the second floor of our offices, chocked full of tasty aged Scotch from all over the world! The bar service and catering were provided by none other than our friends at JFod.

The event was a success with everyone leaving feeling just a little more… enlightened!

Stay tuned for more 3D news to come.

Live United

When United Way asked us to create a  video to be presented during their gala event, we came up with a unique concept that took our crew all over Chicago!  Through production and special effects, we were able to extend a clothesline across the entire city, from the Northwest Suburbs to the Southside! Our goal was to highlight how United Way ties the people of this great community together.

We are extremely proud of this piece and enjoyed working with the folks at United Way. Please take a moment to view by clicking the picture above.

Watch. Share. Live United.

Leap of Faith

The Focus Creeps just completed a video for indie band Port O’Brien’s song “Leap Year”.

“The video is intended to be a poetic and gentle visual compliment to a song that tells a very literal story already” say the Focus Creeps of their latest piece. “The imagery does not tell a story as much as play off of the lyrics that are given by the narration of the song. Further, we see the nonlinear passage of time in the imagery. And as the song does not address whether there is any resolution, neither does the video which instead is a collage of poetic portraits of different lives that overlap and play together, yet harbor a different energy and interior life.”

Check out the video above and be sure to sample more of the band’s music on their myspace page!
