Nailed It!

Foundation Editor Suzie Moore and Sr. Assistant Editor B Stover recently entered a Make an Ad contest for Sally Hansen… and WON a top spot among the finalists!  The brand purchased their spot, along with 5 others, for use in an upcoming campaign. Brittany “B” says, “We entered the contest because we wanted to make beauty products appealing in a new and different way.” Click the pic to view the spot!

B and Suzie co-directed “Salon Effects Fashion Show” and shot it on the stage at Foundation Content. “Being a part of the directing process was so satisfying because it allowed me to see the whole idea come to life!”, says B. “I wasn’t even sure if we were going to go through with shooting the idea at first, but when I saw the script that B wrote, there was no choice but to film it!”, Suzie continues.

B and Suzie collaborated on the editorial and graphics for the spot – Check it out here!

United By Film

Tonight our piece for United Way, “Live United” (aka clothesline), which recently won the Gold Hugo Award, was screened at the Chicago International Film Festival’s “Best of INTERCOM”.

Owner, James Lipetzky and EP Tracy Heropkie posed with United Way’s Kelly O’Brien, who brought us the project.

It was a magical night, with some wonderful films! Chicago… I’m yours!

Foundation Content Wins A Gold Hugo!!

The jury of the 2010 INTERCOM competition has selected Live United to receive their highest honor, the Gold Hugo, in the category Charitable Activity.  The production will screen as party of the Chicago International Film Festival’s Best of INTERCOM presentation at 6:00pm on Wednesday, October 20th.

When United Way Chicago needed a piece for their gala event, their goal was to explore the community as a whole to highlight all of the ways in which United Way brings people together.  Foundation Content came up with the unique concept of  criss-crossing the city with a clothesline featuring United Way’s Live United t-shirts.   (Please click the picture below to view the piece)

Through production and special effects, Foundation was able to extend a clothesline across the entire city! The shoot itself took five days  and featured ordinary people most of whom have been touched in some way by United Way. The visual effects took about three weeks to  produce and the end result was an emotional journey through the city  and suburbs that clearly depicted United Way’s  reach.

Every Heart Matters

A piece we created for F.A.I.R. in support of abolishing Prop 8 called “Every Heart Matters” has been selected as one of three finalists by the E-Hero Awards selection committee for the 2010 Human Rights Campaign Gala in Los Angeles!!
The Gala is being held on March 13th at the Hyatt Century Plaza Hotel and will feature U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer. Portia DeRossi will be presented with the HRC Visibility Award and Kathy Griffin will be receiving the Ally for Equality Award.
F.A.I.R. is a group that was formed to fight for marriage equality in California.  One of the founders of the F.A.I.R. organization, Dayna Frank, contacted Foundation’s LA  producer Stacy Paris for help creating a PSA using the Shepard Fairey “Love Unites” ) poster image  for which they secured the rights to use (he also designed the Obama HOPE poster).  Creative Director Samantha Hart called upon writer, Julie Hall, for help in word-smithing a powerful piece for which everyone’s favorite directing duo, Focus Creeps, traveled to San Francisco and Los Angeles to work with real families and couples to shoot candid moments of them in their homes or playing with their children.  The footage was edited by Tom Pastorelle and cut together with graphic images and additional photography  shot on our  stage.
Marriage Equality is not just a California issue, but an issue the whole country is facing.
Foundation’s Stacy Paris says, “We are proud to have been given the opportunity to contribute to the cause and thrilled that our piece has been selected for this prestigious event.”
Tom will be traveling to Los Angeles to attend the gala! Stay tuned for pictures! And be sure to cast your vote for Best PSA here: http://hrcladinner.com/ehero/index.php

Moore Is Our Champion

Senior Assistant Editor, Suzie Moore, recently submitted a piece to the Splice Capades and placed as First runner up! If you are not familiar, Splice Capades is an annual competition in which assistant editors show off their editing chops by “splicing” two different films together to create a :90 trailer! This year’s mash-up featured the films “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” and “Network”.

Suzie says of the experience, “I just love Steve Carrell so when I watched the movies I knew I wanted to do something funny with him as the main character. It was a lot of fun to put together. As first runner up I won a blu-ray player!” Her trailer is absolutely hilarious, so be sure to check it out at the link above!!

There were 25 entries from assistants in Chicago. We’re proud of Suzie every day – this is just “splicing” on the cake!
